A Place Where Everyone Belongs

Building a welcoming community for adults with disabilities through connection, creativity, and meaningful friendships in Carroll County, Maryland.

Taylor's Place creates inclusive social opportunities where adults with disabilities can build friendships, explore interests, and feel truly connected

    Who We Are

Taylor's Place is an inclusive community created in memory of Taylor Chaffin, a young woman who longed for connection and worked to bring others through a small group she called the Shooting Stars.

Today, we carry her spirit forward by creating opportunities for adults with disabilities to gather, participate in meaningful activities and build lasting friendships in a welcoming and supportive environment.

We operate using a bring-your-own-caregiver model to ensure the safety and dignity for all participants.

Taylor's Place is currently operating under fiscal sponsorship as we pursue independent nonprofit status.

What We Do

  • Host Inclusive social gatherings and clubs

"Taylor's Place is a continuation of my daughter's kindness.  Taylor believed deeply in friendship and belonging and we are building a welcoming space where adults with disabilities can gather, connect, and truly feel at home.  Each smile we create will carry Taylor's spirit and memory!"

Our Vision

As Taylor's Place grows, our long-term vision is to expand into a larger community model where we aim to provide affordable living spaces designed for adults with special needs and their personal caregivers. Our accessible facilities will include a gym, classrooms for workshops and events, and a restaurant where residents can gain valuable work experience. We believe in a supportive environment that promotes independence and community engagement. At Taylor's Place, our hope is to promote wellness and create unique events while providing employment and volunteer opportunities.

It will be a welcoming space where individuals can come together in an accepting environment, fostering friendships through activities that cater to diverse interests. Our community center, which is now in the planning and fund-raising stage will also be available to non-residents.  We will also offer financial assistance as needed to ensure everyone can participate and enjoy our community.

A Note From the Founder

Taylor was not just my daughter; she was my greatest teacher. Throughout her life, she demonstrated the true essence of community, showing that belonging is essential, not a luxury. When she brought people together for simple activities, her intention was never to create something monumental; she simply wanted to ensure that no one felt lonely or excluded. The joy of watching her small get togethers evolve into a vibrant group of friends was the highlight of her life—and mine from seeing the joy it brought her.  After her passing, I made it my mission to keep that joy alive!  I knew that what she started could not end. Taylor's Place is my promise to her, to continue to build the welcoming, joyful, inclusive spaces she believed in so deeply, while building it into her vision. Every event, every connection, and every smile continues to carry her spirit forward. Thank you for being a part of this beautiful legacy and keeping her dreams alive!

With Gratitude,
